squeezing hands when there's nothing else
so it was an uplifting day until i got home and got the news. grandpa was rushed to the emergency room today at 5pm with the shut-down of all his bodily functions and uncontrollable shaking. his body is racked with infection, making the surgery to remove his cancerous tumors impossible.
oh, and this morning, my cousin was passenger in a car vs. tree and is in a coma with a broken face, collapsed lung and machines breathing for him.
tomorrow i'll be making the rounds of some ICU's. and i'm going to squeeze some hands and whisper some "i love you's" and i know that will help. and then i'm going to come back and do it again. and after a little while, some eyes will open and i'll offer some smiles and then some hugs; and in no time at all they'll be back on their feet.
