freestyle walking

when i was a teenager, that's what we called it. freestyle walking. it was basically a joke. kids acting stupid and running through the streets, jumping off railings, climbing city waterfountains, and spinning on street signs. we knew we were idiots, but we just felt this burning energy.

when i got home from a night of wandering around downtown, i would have these dreams. and i believed them. i believed i could fly. i could jump off bridges. i scaled buildings and ran with the cars.

i was alive and nothing could stop me. i never stopped myself.

this was the life i dreamed.

my energy was unlimited.

my fear was unbounded.

...

last night i dreamed about getting to take a nap.
